3DShook is all about creating and curating useful, functional & beautiful content for people to print on their 3D printers. We asked our Head of Design Tal Mor to choose his top 10 3D printable designs from the 3DShook catalog, that represent his aesthetics as a product designer – or in his words “The ability to design and then 3D print useful products in a hypnotizing and mechanical way”.
So without further ado … we give you Tal
Top 10 3D Printable Designs – the Tal Mor list
There’s definitely something magical and retro-esque about this design – it’s a two-part hanging planter which makes it easy to print each piece in a different color, adding a nice personal touch to your home. The bowl part of the planter can easily be removed for planting and is simple to put back together. It’s a simple yet sophisticated design that looks beautiful hanging in your garden or even in a common area of your home.
Imagine a lampshade with no supports, no rafts and prints neatly on one plate – we’re talking about ATALOBA. Once assembled, this 3D printed lampshade has a large body and impressive modern shape, and the best part is that you can use it in two ways 1). Table lamp with a standard IKEA lamp base using the connection piece from the print plate or hang it from the ceiling.
We all know work can be a bit dull – the florescent lights, uniform cubicles lined up row after row, but there is one place you can add your own personal touches – your office desk! This tape dispenser will put a BIG smile on your face. Minimalistic design, prints quickly and has no supports! Fits standard office tape rolls.
“One small print for the printer, one giant leap for mankind”
For those who dream about going to the moon, this pen holder is for you. It’s support-free, can be printed in different colors for a cooler effect and looks pretty darn funny on your desk. So dreamers, it’s time to load your filament and print some dreams…to the moon!
Almost the size of a standard house key, SLIMI will hold your smartphone with perfect stability and angularity, making your smartphone comfortable to use upright. Prints with a workable hinge that folds together and is support-free. This 3D design is a perfect example of maximum efficiency and minimum print time. Connect it to your keychain for easy access.
A rounded and slick mini smartphone amplifier to play some groovy tunes. Designed to rock out and charge at the same time – a small channel underneath feeds the cord to the smartphone phone while it’s blastin’ beats. One of my favourite electricity-free amplifiers to take on trips.
Time never looked so good – a simple and retro styled clock that rocks side to side on your office desk or nightstand. The thing I love about this clock is the design – it’s restless, yet the hands keep ticking. There’s something nurturing and relaxing that makes this 3D printed clock a successful design. All of 3DShook’s clocks fit standard Quartz movement mechanisms (2 3/16″ x 2 3/16″ – 55 x 55 mm) Click here for a simple video explaining how to add/replace movement mechanisms.
Being a skateboarder myself, I find this 3D design very efficient and feel that other skaters would too. It prints in 3 separate parts with a connector to join the base and easily mounts to any surface. We tested it with multiple boards and it really is a beauty! A perfect print for skateboarders and longboarders.
The coolest place to keep your pens and pencils – this 3D printed pencil case has multiple parts which makes it great for cool color combinations and opens and closes using a special designed mechanism. A great back to school item for kids and even university students – its fun, clean and innovative. Once you learn to hand flip it close, its got a nice SHLACK! sound too.
Skulls have an eternal, cross cultural, hype. We have tons of awesome and badass skull designs, but this is by far my pick. This mini shelf brings a whole load of coolness to your home and is full of beautifully sculpted details. It has two built-in hooks to easily mount and hang to any surface.
